Contract signing after verification

The customer has passed the check and signs the contract right away, without leaving the page. The passport, selfie, Liveness and a match of the contract details against the passport confirm who signed, and an audit trail with timestamps and the document hash stays with you in case of a dispute.

Signing a contract with identity verification: what an SMS code cannot prove

Check and signature in one session

The passport, selfie, Liveness and signature are linked by a single record: whoever was checked is the one who signed. How the steps before signing work — on the page digital onboarding.

  • 01

A code confirms a phone, not a person

A one-time code shows that the signature was made by someone with access to the number. It does not say who held the phone or whether they are the person named in the contract.

  • 02

The signer entered the details themselves

The full name and passport details in a contract usually come from a form. If they were not matched against the document, a contract can be drawn up in someone else’s name — and formally everything will be signed.

  • 03

A dispute starts with the question “who signed?”

The customer says they never entered into the contract. You will have to answer: the law requires the method of signing to reliably identify the person who expressed their will.

  • 04

Check and signature in different systems

If KYC was completed in one window and the signature came in another, later, there is no link between them. It is harder to prove that the person who signed is the one who was checked.

  • 4 matches passport, selfie, Liveness, contract details
  • 1 record check and signature in one audit trail
  • 16 in 1 database checks for 50 ₽ in the same session

Signing in the same session as the check: six customer steps

A digital signature after a passport check takes the customer a few minutes and needs no separate registration. You upload the contract template in advance and choose the checks; the customer receives a link or opens signing in your app.

Step 1

Read the contract

The customer opens the document and scrolls to the end. The details are filled in from your system or form, and the terms of the simple signature agreement are in the same window.

The customer reads the contract before signing
Step 2

Click “Sign”

The click starts the signing session. From then on, every action gets a timestamp and goes into the audit trail.

The customer clicks “Sign” and the session starts
Step 3

Photograph the passport

The platform recognises the fields and checks the document: machine-readable zone and checksums, screenshot, photocopy, printout, traces of a graphics editor, pasted-in photo.

Capturing and checking the passport
Step 4

Selfie and Liveness

The customer takes a selfie with the passport and passes a liveness check: a live person is in front of the camera, not a photo, video, mask or deepfake. The face in the selfie is matched against the photo in this passport.

Selfie and liveness check
Step 5

Match the details and databases

The full name, date of birth and passport number in the contract are matched against the recognised document. The selected database checks run in parallel. If they do not match, the signature is not applied.

The contract details match the passport
Step 6

Receive the signed contract

The customer receives the document; you receive the signed contract and an exportable audit trail with the document hash. Your system learns the result and opens the product to the customer.

The contract is signed, the audit trail is saved

A simple electronic signature under 63‑FZ: when it equals a handwritten one

A simple signature with identity confirmation is not a special kind of signature but a simple electronic signature with a strong rule for identifying the signer. Equivalence to paper comes from the agreement of the parties, and the evidence in a dispute comes from the check and the log.

  • A transaction made by electronic means complies with the written form if the method used reliably identifies the person who expressed their will (Art. 160, Part 1) Law
  • A contract can be concluded as a single electronic document signed by the parties, or by acceptance of an offer (Art. 434, Part 2; Art. 438, Part 3) Law

  • A simple signature, made with codes, passwords or other means, confirms that the signature was created by a specific person (Art. 5, Part 2) Law
  • A document is considered signed if the key was applied under the system operator’s rules and the document contains information about the signer (Art. 9, Part 1, Cl. 2) NeuroSign

  • A document with a simple signature is equal to a paper document with a handwritten signature if the law or an agreement of the participants so provides (Art. 6, Part 2) Your company
  • The agreement must contain the rules for identifying the signer and the duty to keep the key secret (Art. 9, Part 2). What exactly to write is in the block on the agreement Your company

  • Consent in the form of an electronic document signed with an electronic signature is equivalent to written consent (Art. 9, Part 4) Law
  • A selfie used to establish identity is biometric data: the customer’s written consent is required (Art. 11, Part 1). Obtain it as the first step of the session, before capture Your company
  • This is a guideline, not a legal opinion; the exact text of the provisions is in ConsultantPlus. If the law requires a qualified signature, notarial form or paper for a document, a simple signature will not do — see which documents cannot be signed this way.

The signer’s face and 572‑FZ: matching at the moment of signing, not against an old selfie

  • Matching against the passport from this session

The face in the selfie is compared with the photo in the passport the customer has just photographed. This is a one-off one-to-one match inside signing — as in the passport and selfie check.

  • Liveness — against a stand-in signer

The liveness check filters out photos, videos, masks and deepfakes: signing a contract with someone else’s passport while holding the owner’s picture in front of the camera will not work.

  • The next contract — a new check

An addendum a month later is signed the same way: the document and Liveness again, matched against the passport in this session. There is no signing “by face” from a selfie saved in a previous session.

  • Automatically by biometrics — via the UBS

If you need to confirm identity by biometrics without a document, the lawful automatic route is the Unified Biometric System. How to combine it with NeuroVision checks — on the page identification via the UBS.

For frequent signings by one customer, your own simple-signature method in a personal account is more convenient, with the full selfie check kept for the first contract and for changes of details.

Simple electronic signature agreement: six points for an offer

Without an agreement, a simple signature does not become equal to a handwritten one. It is usually included in the offer or user agreement and accepted at the start of the signing session. Your lawyer writes the text — here is what it should reflect. How this works in the product — on the website NeuroSign.

  • How the signer is determined

A mandatory point under Art. 9, Part 2. The signer is the person who in the signing session presented a passport, passed the selfie and Liveness, and whose data matched the contract details.

  • What counts as the key

The simple signature key is defined by you: for example, a one-time link to the signing session together with passing the check. The customer undertakes not to pass the link and code to others — this is the second mandatory point.

  • The moment of signing

The timestamp of clicking “Sign” and of the end of the session. It is convenient to state outright that the moment of signing is the successful completion of the check.

  • How integrity is verified

The document hash is recorded in the audit trail. Any change to the text after signing changes the hash — this is visible on verification.

  • How the customer receives a copy

The signed document is sent to the customer right after the session: by email, to a personal account or to an app — as your agreement provides.

  • Which documents are signed this way

A list of documents: contracts, addenda, applications, consents, acts. Separately — what cannot be signed with a simple signature and how it is signed instead.

Signing audit trail: what to present if a contract is disputed

Six months later, the customer writes that they did not sign the contract. The audit trail answers three questions: which document was signed, who signed it and how the session went.

Which documents to sign after verification and which — with another kind of signature

A simple signature with identity verification is for documents between a company and a person where the form is not prescribed by a regulator. Where the law requires more, it will not help, however many checks there are.

  • Suitable

Frequently asked questions about signing a contract after a check

Both are simple electronic signatures. A code confirms access to a phone number. A signature after a check confirms the person: the passport, selfie, Liveness and a match of the contract details with the passport, all in one session and one audit trail.

Yes, if the parties’ agreement or the law so provides (Art. 6, Part 2 of 63‑FZ). The agreement must describe how the signer is identified and that the customer keeps the key secret (Art. 9, Part 2). It is usually included in the offer or user agreement.

Yes. In NeuroSign, the customer opens the contract, clicks “Sign”, photographs the passport, takes a selfie and passes Liveness — and after all the matches receives the signed document. If you have your own signature, the NeuroVision KYC session goes in front of it.

The rule for identifying the signer (who passed the check in the session and whose data matched the contract), what counts as the key and the duty not to pass it on, the moment of signing, how to obtain a copy and the list of documents. Your lawyer prepares the text.

The document hash and timestamps, the results of the passport check, selfie, Liveness and details matching, the results of database checks and a timeline of session events. The audit trail is exported together with the signed document.

Yes. A selfie used to establish identity is biometric personal data, which requires written consent (Art. 11, Part 1 of 152‑FZ). Consent in the form of an electronic document signed with an electronic signature is equivalent to written consent — it is signed as the first step.

No. Face matching runs only against the passport the customer showed in this session. For the next contract — the document and Liveness again, or your own simple-signature method in a personal account. Automatic identity confirmation by biometrics — via the UBS.

Those for which the law requires a qualified signature, notarial form or paper only, and documents containing state secrets. Documents between companies are usually signed with a qualified signature.

The signature is not applied, and the session ends with a clear reason. The customer corrects the data in the form or your system generates the contract again — and signing runs once more.

In NeuroSign — from 20 ₽ per document, integration — 250,000 ₽ one-off. A KYC session before your own signature — from 29 ₽ for the “Document + liveness” package, database checks — 5 ₽, all 16 — 50 ₽.
